After School Program

Parents, are you looking for an after school childcare solution for your little ones? Pillar has the solution for busy working families. Our after school program aims to support our local community by providing academic and literacy support, in a safe, constructive environment for students beginning their academic careers.

At Pillar, we offer a high-quality childcare setting that keeps children engaged, while parents work at our onsite coworking space. We offer children the chance to explore our classroom and make choices about which activities and materials to engage with. In addition, we provide daily teacher-led activities to reinforce the following types of learning goals for TK and Kindergarten friends:

  • Taking turns talking and listening to others
  • Following directions
  • Playing cooperatively with others
  • Taking care of personal needs, like using the bathroom and tying shoes
  • Choosing his/her own activities and materials
  • Spending time drawing, writing, cutting, and building
  • Recognizing letters, letter sounds, and numbers from 1-100

At Pillar, we follow a play-based, emergent curriculum that allows children to explore and discover areas of interest. To inform the individualized curriculum, teachers observe student play and encourage natural curiosity and skill development by areas of interest. Our teachers guide learning by asking questions and exploring concepts that build on prior knowledge. With areas including art, sensory and dramatic play, blocks, music and movement, literacy, math, and science, every child will find something engaging and exciting at Pillar Kids!
